# Test a custom-site installation

Test one product from beginning to end before enabling Selvette across your catalog.

## Installation check

1. Open the product page in a private browser window.
2. Confirm the widget script loads successfully in the browser Network panel.
3. Confirm the launcher appears in the intended placement.
4. Open the widget and upload a clear shopper photo.
5. Generate a result.
6. Select **Add to cart** and confirm your site's cart changes.
7. Open Studio **Insights** and confirm activity appears after processing.

## Product check

Repeat the page on a second product and confirm:

* the product reference changes;
* the image URL changes;
* the correct product reaches your cart hook; and
* client-side navigation does not retain the first product's values.

## If the launcher does not appear

Check the browser console for a missing key, placeholder image, blocked origin, or failed script request. See [Widget not appearing](/troubleshooting-and-faq/widget-not-appearing.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.selvette.com/custom-sites/test-your-installation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
